Zhirkov signs for Chelsea

Chelsea have signed Russian international and former CSKA Moscow player Yuri Zhirkov.

The fee is reported to be £18million and the contract has been signed for a period of four years.

The 25 year old generally plays as a left back but can move up the pitch and be part of the midfield as well.

Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed the signing by saying :

Zhirkov, (Daniel) Sturridge - these are Chelsea players.

Earlier Chelsea had signed Daniel Sturridge from Manchester City and goalkeeper Ross Turnbull on a free transfer from Middlesbrough.
