Jagielka to get surgery

Everton and England international Phil Jagielka is to get knee surgery in London and could be back in action early next season.

The player sustained the injury in Saturday's defeat to Manchester City at Goodison Park.

He has been immediately set for operation by the club to make sure he's fit to start for the next season as early as possible with Everton assured of a Europa Cup spot.

He would miss the FA Cup final with Chelsea at the end of May as well.

The injury would have been definitely a cruel blow to Jagielka who has had a fabulous and a consistent season with the tofees. He also scored the ultimate penalty to overcome Manchester United in the semi finals of FA cup.

Everton go into the FA Cup final with the assurance of European football next season even if they lose and despite their league position after Chelsea beat West Ham.

Jagielka is unlikely to get back for the qualifying stages for Europa Cup either and his place in the FA Cup team is likely to go to Joseph Yobo.
