Gareth Barry signs for Man City
Manchester City's website confirms the reports that have been emerging throughout the day about English midfielder, Gareth Barry's switch to the Citizens.
Manchester City have signed the Aston Villa player for a fee of £12million which is lesser than what the Villans demanded for a year back from Liverpool following which the deal fell through and the player stayed for the 2008/09 season.
The deal has been signed for five years which comes in the wake of Steven Ireland's agreement to a long term with Manchester City thus ensuring a formidable midfield along with Robinho.
Only thing that bothers me from Barry's point of view is why did he sign for a club which has in the near past only finished in the mid table.Whereas, Liverpool who have publicly shown interest in the player would have made him part of the top four clubs in England and not to forget the opportunity to play in Europe. Why would a 28 year old join a club which might not even achieve those credentials?
On the other side, do Manchester City fans think its a great deal and worth the money?Especially after the bag loads of money the owner's got?

i am a Villa fan. Sad news.. But he is not a perfect midfielder too. A tad too slow. But he has bag loads of skills.
He isn't a perfect midfielder I agree and not the fastest either but sometimes you just have to create chances for your forwards.Especially if your forwards are as strong and fast as Carew and Agbanlahor and get crosses in for good heading forwards like Heskey.
its the winger responsibility. do you play soccer in india?
Yeah but Barry is a good crosser of the ball too.I am actually shocked there is no transfer speculation for Ashley Young. He deserves to be in a better team.Yep,India has its own league called the I-League and it would be interesting for you to know that when Bayern Munich visited India in December/January,the game was witnessed by 100,000 people.
Villa is a good team..
What team do u support??
is there player in india good enough to play in england?
Yeah they are a good team but I think Ashley Young is a great player who can be better off playing in the top four. I support Real Madrid.
Michael Chopra,a player of Indian origin plays for Cardiff and was on loan to Sunderland.
Baichung Bhutia,India's captain has had a stint with League 1 side Bury FC.
Also recently,India's striker,Sunil Chhetri was on trial for Coventry City.
