Liverpool sign Mavinga

Liverpool have signed young French starlet Chris Mavinga from Paris Saint-Germain and extended the contract for Nabil El-Zhar.

Mavinga is a left back who has very little professional experience in the league.This could be seen as Rafa's strategy to improve for the future as the player is only 18 year old and could feature in Carling Cup and FA Cup ties.The length of the deal is not revealed.

This is Liverpool's second signing of the off the season after bringing in Glen Johnson from Portsmouth. The reds beat Arsenal to sign the young French defender.

Meanwhile, El Zhar has extended his contract with Liverpool which will now run until 2012.

The player arrived in 2006 from St.Etienne and had a decent last season making 19 appearances for the Merseysiders.He follows Gerrard, Torres, Kuyt, Agger, Benayoun in agreeing their future with the club.
