Berbatov out for two weeks

Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov is set to be sidelined for the next two weeks due to an ankle injury.

The Bulgarian picked up the injury with the game against Fulham where Manchester United lost 2-0.

The player also missed international games against Republic of Ireland and Cyrpus as he withdrew from the squad.

This means the player would miss the weekends crunch game against Aston Villa, both the ties against Porto in the Champions league and next weeks trip to Sunderland.

This would add to Manchester United's woes who have had two straight losses against Liverpool and Fulham.Other players in the squad who would not be eligible for the weekend fixture due to suspension are Wayne Rooney,Vidic and Paul Scholes.

Sir Alex Ferguson had this to say on his lack of options :

"It's probably going to be another two weeks,"

"Hopefully he will be back training with us at the end of next week and he will be okay after that."

One positive for Manchester United is the fitness level of Gary Neville who played for the reserves in the week and had a good enough game to get the backing of the Scot but it remains to be seen if he indeed starts for the Red Devils.
